Show IDs in WP Admin Columns
Adds a sortable ID column to WordPress admin lists for posts, pages, WooCommerce products, categories, tags, and public custom types.
Find post IDs and term IDs instantly in WordPress admin without opening edit screens or digging through URLs. Lightweight, sortable, and useful for custom code, integrations, imports, and faster backend work.
Plugin Overview
Show IDs in WP Admin Columns adds a dedicated, sortable ID column to supported WordPress admin list tables. It helps you quickly find the IDs of posts, pages, WooCommerce products, categories, tags, and other public custom content types without opening edit screens, inspecting URLs, or poking around in the database.
This is especially handy when working with custom code, shortcodes, imports, exports, integrations, CSS targeting, queries, or general admin tasks where knowing the exact post ID or term ID saves time.
The plugin works automatically after activation and keeps things simple. No bloated settings screens, no unnecessary database changes, and no backend clutter.
Main benefits
- Shows IDs directly in WordPress admin list tables
- Makes the ID column sortable for quicker organisation
- Supports posts, pages, WooCommerce products, categories, and tags
- Works with public custom post types and public taxonomies
- Lightweight and simple, with no database changes
- Useful for developers, store owners, and site admins
- Includes developer filters for adjusting included post types and taxonomies
How it Works and What to Expect
Once activated, the plugin automatically adds a new ID column to supported post type and taxonomy list screens in WordPress admin. That includes standard content like posts and pages, as well as WooCommerce products, categories, and tags.
The column displays the unique ID of each item and can also be sorted in ascending or descending order. That means you can quickly find older or newer items by ID, check the exact ID needed for code snippets, or manage content more efficiently without extra clicks.
For example:
- Posts and pages: quickly grab IDs for templates, shortcodes, queries, redirects, or custom functionality
- WooCommerce products: view and sort product IDs directly in the product list
- Categories and tags: quickly find and sort taxonomy term IDs in admin
- Public custom post types and taxonomies: supported automatically when they use standard public admin list tables
There is no settings page because the plugin is designed to work straight away. For more advanced use, developers can modify included post types and taxonomies through filters.
Performance Overview
Is it fast? Yes. The plugin is lightweight and only affects WordPress admin list tables where the ID column is displayed. It does not create custom database tables, does not run background tasks, and does not load unnecessary frontend assets.
The sorting uses WordPress’s normal admin query handling, so the plugin stays lean and practical. For normal admin use, the performance impact is negligible.
Why it stays lightweight
- no database changes
- no frontend output
- no unnecessary settings page
- no tracking or bloat
- only loads a tiny admin CSS block for the ID column
Requirements & Compatibility
- WordPress: 6.0+
- PHP: 7.4+
- WooCommerce: 9+ if WooCommerce support is needed
- Supports: posts, pages, WooCommerce products, categories, tags, public custom post types, and public taxonomies
- Dependencies: none
- Database changes: none
Compatibility notes
The plugin is designed to work cleanly with standard WordPress admin screens and WooCommerce admin lists. It supports public custom post types and public taxonomies automatically.
Some internal or hidden WordPress and WooCommerce types are intentionally excluded to keep the admin cleaner and avoid showing IDs where they are usually not useful.
